Safety & Standards

STRIDE connects families with trusted, local youth care — built on clear standards and community accountability.

Our Commitment

STRIDE facilitates introductions between families and independent care providers within our North Shore community. We maintain a curated network of local youth who have completed our vetting process and agreed to our standards of conduct.

It's important to understand that STRIDE does not employ or supervise sitters. We serve as a trusted connection point, but families and care providers enter into independent relationships. All care arrangements, supervision, and ongoing management are between families and the individual sitters they choose to work with.

Vetting & Screening

Every sitter in our network has completed a multi-step process before being listed on STRIDE:

  • Application Review: We collect detailed information about experience, qualifications, and references from each prospective sitter.
  • Reference-Based Vetting: We contact references and verify prior childcare experience whenever possible.
  • Code of Conduct Agreement: Every sitter agrees to our standards for professionalism, safety, and communication.
  • Ongoing Accountability: Sitters remain in our network based on continued adherence to our standards and positive family feedback.

While we take reasonable steps to vet care providers, STRIDE cannot guarantee the suitability or conduct of any individual. Families are responsible for conducting their own interviews, reference checks, and background screenings as they see fit.

Independent Care Providers

All care providers on STRIDE operate as independent service providers. Here's what that means:

  • Independent Operation: Sitters set their own rates, schedule their own availability, and manage their own client relationships.
  • Family Hiring Decisions: Families make all final decisions about who to hire, when to schedule care, and whether to continue working with a particular sitter.
  • No Direct Supervision: STRIDE does not supervise, direct, or monitor in-home care. Families are responsible for overseeing the care their children receive.
  • Direct Payment: All payment arrangements are made directly between families and sitters. STRIDE does not process payments or withhold taxes.

Community Accountability

We maintain accountability within our network through community feedback and clear standards:

  • Family Feedback: We welcome and review feedback from families about their experiences with care providers.
  • Standards Enforcement: Sitters who violate our Code of Conduct or receive concerning feedback may be removed from the platform.
  • Review Process: We take all reports seriously and conduct thorough reviews when concerns are raised.
  • Transparent Communication: We maintain open lines of communication with both families and sitters to address issues promptly.

If you have concerns about a care provider or wish to provide feedback about your experience, please contact us at hello@stridens.com.
